Join Our Team as a Registered Nurse – Case Management Pediatrics

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Registered Nurse to join our dynamic Case Management Pediatrics team in Anchorage, AK. Shift / Schedule

  • Day shift, Monday through Friday
  • 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM (5 days a week, 8-hour shifts)

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years professional nursing experience
  • Proficient in Epic charting system (required)
  • Current Alaska RN License (required)
  • ACM-RN Certification (required)
  • BLS Certification (required)
  • Familiarity with community hospital settings preferred
  • Experience in Trauma Level II settings preferred
  • Hands-on experience with case management and utilization review, including:
    • Admission Criteria (required)
    • Care coordination
    • Continued Stay Reviews
    • Determining Medical Necessity per Evidence-Based Guidelines
    • Needs Assessment and Ordering Durable Medical Equipment (DME)
    • Development of Plan of Care
    • Pre-Certification Review (required)
    • Prior Authorizations (required)
    • Use of InterQual Criteria (required)
    • Use of Milliman Guidelines (required)
    • Worker’s Compensation Case Management (required)
  • Knowledge and compliance with regulatory requirements, including:
    • CMS (Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services)
    • Department of Health (required)
    • HIPAA Guidelines
    • ICD-10 Coding (required)
    • The Joint Commission, Core Measures, National Patient Safety Goals (required)
  • Acute hospital nursing experience in specialty areas, including:
    • Emergency Department (required)
    • Intensive Care Unit (required)
    • Medical-Surgical (required)
    • Women’s Services (required)
    • Experience in NICU, Pediatrics, and PICU a plus
  • Travel experience is not required

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive case management and utilization review activities consistent with current standards and guidelines
  • Coordinate care plans for pediatric patients, ensuring appropriate admission, continued stay, and discharge criteria are met
  • Conduct needs assessments and order necessary durable medical equipment to ensure optimal patient support
  • Obtain prior authorizations and pre-certifications efficiently in accordance with insurer and regulatory requirements
  • Utilize InterQual and Milliman criteria to determine medical necessity and guide utilization decisions
  • Document and communicate case management activities accurately using Epic electronic health records
  • Maintain compliance with all relevant regulatory standards and participate in audits as required
  • Serve as an advocate for pediatric patients and their families to coordinate care across multiple disciplines and settings
  • Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary healthcare teams in Emergency Department, ICU, Medical-Surgical, and Women’s Services to optimize patient care outcomes

Qualifications

  • Current, unrestricted Alaska Registered Nurse License
  • ACM-RN Certification required
  • BLS certification up to date
  • Minimum of 2 years nursing experience, with demonstrated expertise in case management and pediatric patient care
  • Strong knowledge of hospital regulations, coding, and documentation standards
  • Experience working within acute care hospital units including Emergency Department, ICU, Medical-Surgical, and Women’s Services
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively
